The KS2 reading breakfast was a fantastic morning where children, parents, grandparents and other relatives got together to read and enjoy a bite to eat. We loved seeing so many people sharing a love of reading together. Thank you to all who came!
This week, as part of our topic on the Ancient Greeks, Year 4 have been trying some traditional Greek food. We tasted olives (stuffed with sun-dried tomatoes, feta cheese, stuffed vine leaves and yoghurt. Some of us loved the different foods…others weren’t as keen. Mrs Wardle was so proud of us for trying out new foods.
We’ve been using our ‘rapid recall’ boards to work on our mental maths skills. We are super proud of our work!
We are writing our myths! After reading Ancient Greek myths such as Icarus, King Midas and the Golden Touch, Medusa and the Quest of Perseus and Orpheus and Eurydice, we’ve started to write our own myths including mythical creatures, magical objects, heroes and heroines and gods and goddesses. Mrs Wardle can’t wait to read them.
We have been using our multimedia skills to work in pairs and create powerpoints based on the Ancient Greeks. We included facts including the Olympics, Gods and Goddesses, food, school and clothes. Finally, we got up in front of all our peers and presented them to the class.
This week in Year 4, we have been writing spooking settings using our 5 senses, alliteration, metaphors, similes and personification to create imagery in our work. The results were spine-tingling.
