Year 5

Mr Oliver and Mrs Donkin

Hello and welcome to class 5RO!

We are taught by Mr Oliver, Mrs Graham, Mrs Donkin and Mrs Storey. There are many different personalities and talents amongst us but we are united by our excitement for the year to come! Our topics this term are The Terrible Tudors and Properties and Changes of Materials.

We aim to create happy memories as we continue our school adventure together. Please join us as we keep you informed about our learning.

We will remember them…

To commemorate the centenary of the First World War, some of Year 6 children took part in our local Church service and our Mini Police children from Year 5 joined them in marching with the local community and laying wreathes on behalf of our school. It was an extremely moving service and we are very proud of all of the children involved.

Fa la la la la la la la la!

This week, some our amazing singers from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 were joined by Tim West from Sun FM to record some verses for a special Christmas song. We recorded verses for 22 days to go… and 11 days to go… so you will soon be able to hear our children on Sun FM radio. We should be played on the 3rd December and the 14th of December. Keep yours ears open…

Super Scientists!

We are thoroughly enjoying our science topic on Materials and their Properties. So far, we have been learning about some of the more difficult properties, such as permeability, and reminding ourselves that not all metals are magnetic. In our test we found only three...

Inflatables Fun!

Years 4 and 5 had a fantastic, fun-filled afternoon at Hetton School where we had a taster of a variety of inflatable activities. We climbed, bounced, balanced, jumped, aimed…you name it, we did it!
